Three routes. One trainer.
Pick the exam your application actually asks for. If you are not sure which one that is, bring the question to your free demo and Amarjot will tell you straight.
IELTS Academic & General
Academic is what universities ask for. General Training is what work visas and immigration ask for. Both cover all four modules, weighted toward whichever your assessment says is weakest.
- Live one-on-one sessions
- Writing Task 1 and Task 2 feedback
- Speaking practice with a trained ear
- Timed mock tests
- Study materials included
PTE Academic & Core
Academic for study abroad, Core for Canadian immigration. Both are scored by algorithm rather than a person, which changes what actually earns marks.
- Live one-on-one sessions
- Strategies built for automated scoring
- Speaking practice into a microphone
- Timed mock tests
- Study materials included
Canada PR, CLB 9
Express Entry scores your language against CLB benchmarks, not raw test numbers. So this course targets CLB 9 directly rather than a generic band, whichever test you sit.
- Live one-on-one sessions
- CLB 9 targeted preparation
- IELTS General or PTE Core route
- Timed mock tests
- Study materials included
The four modules
Every course covers all four. Your plan decides how much time each one gets.
Listening
Accents vary across the recordings, so practice does too. Losing marks here is usually about focus rather than vocabulary.
Reading
Academic uses journal-style passages while General uses workplace and everyday texts. Pacing matters more than reading speed.
Writing
This is where most students lose bands, so it usually gets the most attention. Feedback on your actual essays, not generic advice.
Speaking
Face to face for IELTS, into a microphone for PTE. Fluency carries more weight than a wide vocabulary in both.
IELTS or PTE?
Both are accepted widely. The right one depends on how you test, not which is easier.
| IELTS | PTE | |
|---|---|---|
| Speaking test | Face to face with an examiner | Recorded into a microphone |
| Scoring | Human examiners | Automated |
| Study abroad | IELTS Academic | PTE Academic |
| Canada PR | IELTS General Training | PTE Core |
| Suits you if | You speak better to a person | You prefer working on a screen |
Check the official formats before you decide. IELTS publishes its test structure at ielts.org, and Pearson does the same for PTE at pearsonpte.com. If Canada PR is your goal, the official CLB requirements tell you exactly which benchmark you need.
Still stuck between them? That is a normal place to be. Book a demo and Amarjot will look at how you actually perform, then recommend one. He teaches both, so he has no reason to push you either way.
